The Marlborough [Eastern] women’s golf team claimed the prestigious Westrupp Cup in Nelson last weekend.

The vastly-experienced Eastern combination dominated the 54-hole event, staged at the Nelson Golf Club, finishing 11 points clear of Central.

Westrupp Cup points: 1 Eastern 32 points; 2 Central 21; 3 Northern 13; 4 Western 6.

Marlborough’s Westrupp Cup women’s team comprised Emily Stenhouse, Tracy Bary, Amber Boyce, Andrea Thomas, Sue Murray and Rete Kydd. Non travelling reserve was Jo Rainbird.

Meanwhile, Marlborough senior and intermediate men’s teams contested the annual Tasman quadrangular in Nelson at the weekend.

The players completed 36 holes on Saturday and 18 on Sunday. A special highlight came late on Saturday when Rarangi’s Ryan MacDonald aced the par three third hole, emulating the feat of his clubmate and playing partner Paul Silke who had landed a hole-in-one at the same hole during the first round. Both players used a five iron.
