Spectators at Stadium 2000 were treated to high-class gymnastics over the weekend when athletes from 11 clubs strutted their stuff under the watchful gaze of various panels of judges.

Local gymnasts mingled with competitors from Wellington, Christchurch, Rolleston, Hokitika, Nelson, Culverden, South Canterbury, Waimate, Riwaka and Brooklyn for the annual Marlborough champs.

Blenheim Gymnastics Club spokesman Tony Quirk said, “The event went very well … it was a credit to the club volunteers who did such a great job through the weekend. The Stadium, as always, is a credit to Marlborough. Visitors were blown away by the facilities.

“The gymnasts and officials love having a competition in a stadium rather than a training gym.”
