Nine Magpies in Mako women's squad

Nine of the Moutere women’s rugby side which won the Tasman Trophy final on Saturday have been named in the 2021 Tasman Mako side.

Pippa Andrews, Raumati Rogers, Aiesha Tepuia, Lesieli Taufa, Wikura Kukka-O'Brien, Eleri James-Sitters, Maiden Tupara, Fiaalii Solomona and Kelly Collins were today included in the 35-strong squad to contest this season’s Farah Palmer Cup competition.

The majority of the team come from either Moutere or their final opponents, Waimea Old Boys.

The team will be coached by former Black Fern Mel Bosman with assistance from Daniel Hobbs and Billy Guyton.

The 2021 Mako squad is: Amanda Sim, Anna Bradley, Meika Newman, Akita Kees, Erana Te Moananui, Jamee Te Moananui, Kelly Collins, Raumati Rogers, Jess Foster-Lawrence, Kate Silcock, Marylynn Matagi, Tanita Garnett, Easter Savelio, Jess Harvie, Kate Nightingale, Neve Anglesey, Sui Pauaraisa, Tamara Silcock, Demi Salton, Hannah Kelly, Keely-Mae Ridley, Aiesha Tepuia, Karla Wright-Akeli, Maiden Tupara, Jamie Paenga, Lesieli Taufa, Michelle Miller-Leef, Sophie Hart, Sydnee Wilkins, Wikura Kuka-O’Brien, Eleri James-Sitters, Eve Findlay, Fiaalii Solomona, Pippa Andrews, Rebecca Kersten.

Their first match is against North Harbour on Saturday, July 24. The squad have a couple of pre-season hit-outs planned, starting with a match on Saturday against a Combined XV in Christchurch.
