Premier netballers venture outside

Premier netball takes a step outside this weekend, the province’s top club sides playing at Lansdowne Park tomorrow.

With Stadium renovations taking place, third round action moves outdoor, games scheduled for 10.30am, 12.30am and 2.30pm

Competition leaders Pelorus Edridge Contracting play the late game, taking on the mixed side, Tokomaru Picton Motordome, with no points at stake in this encounter.

The early match features defending champs, Tokomaru Crafar Crouch, up against Harlequins New World while Awatere Clarence River Rafting, seeking their first win, take on the promising Marlborough Girls’ College King Salmon at 12.30pm.

Rugby

Three of Marlborough’s four Tasman Trophy teams are in action tomorrow. Much interest will centre on the local derby, Waitohi hosting Renwick at Endeavour Park, both sides desperate to get back into winning ways after defeats last weekend.

Central are on the road this week, taking on Stoke at Greenmeadows. Both games kick off at 3pm

The Moutere women’s side, playing in the Tasman division one competition, travel over the hill to meet Waimea Old Boys. This match starts at 1.15pm at Jubilee Park.

In men’s division two, Waitohi host Renwick at Jubilee Park, Pelorus meet Moutere at Havelock and MBC Old Boys play Awatere at Lansdowne Park. All matches kick off at 1.15pm.

The MBC First XV are on the road this weekend, taking on St Thomas of Canterbury in the Miles Toyota Championship in Christchurch on Saturday.

On Tuesday, May 25, MBC are back in action, playing Shirley BHS on the MBC front field in a traditional interschool clash.

Football

Rangers AFC face a testing double header over the few days. On Saturday they meet Richmond at Nelson’s Jubilee Park in the Nelson division one competition then, on Tuesday they are scheduled to play a catch-up fixture at A&P Park against Nelson Suburbs Development. Saturday’s match kicks off at 3pm, Tuesday’s fixture at 6.30pm.

The Blenheim Valley Bullets women’s side have a home game tomorrow. They play Richmond Foxes at A&P Park, with a 3pm kickoff.

In Mayfield Motorworld division one action, BV Masters meet Call Care Trojans at A&P, Rangers Development play Central Wolves at the same venue while Call Care Hotspurs and Central Buccaneers meet at Athletic Park. All matches kick off at 3pm.

In division two, Central Privateers meet Rangers Clubs of Marlborough at A&P, Call Care Spartans play Redwood Masters at Athletic Park while Picton take on Rangers Masters in Picton. The first two games begin at 1pm, the latter at 3pm.

Hockey

In premier hockey action, Arotea Kiwi play the MBC First XI at 1.30pm while Beawai men play Beawai United in the later game, starting at 3pm.
