Lucy Harman produced the fastest time of the day when the annual Marlborough Girls’ College cross country champs were held recently.

On a perfect day for cross country, students and staff took to the hills to run or walk various courses at the Wither Hills Farm Park.

Over the undulating 3000m course, Bella Rayner took the U14 title, Ella Sowman was fastest in the U15 grade, Delyth James-Sitters won the U16 crown with Lucy claiming the U19 honours.

In the highly-contested House competition, students, staff and whanau were able to earn points for competing in the run or walk. Points were also awarded to the top three finishers in each age group as well as the best three-person and six-person finishers from each house in the run, as well as for house spirit and tidiness. For the first time, the honours were shared. Awatere and Kaituna houses, with 351 pts, ended tied at the top from Opaoa, 313, and Wairau, 302.
