MetService revised its forecast for a King's Birthday weekend storm, upgrading the heavy rain alert for Rai Valley and adding a heavy rain watch for other areas in Marlborough.
The Richmond and Bryant Ranges, including Rai Valley and Nelson City, are now under a heavy rain warning through 4am on Tuesday which has a "low chance" of upgrading from orange to red. Forecasters still expect 300mm to 400mm of rainfall with peak rates of 15mm to 25mm per hour.
Meanwhile, MetService issued a heavy rain watch for ranges between the Wairau and Awatere Rivers starting noon on Monday and also ending 4am on Tuesday. The notification indication no projected amount of rainfall but said it "may approach warning criteria".
As noted in Saturday's report, Marlborough District Council offices will be closed for the holiday, but residents requiring assistance can phone 03 520 7400.
