Marlborough Football celebrated a successful junior and youth season when they named their annual awards winners yesterday.

Due to COVID restrictions it was not possible to hold a public gathering so the awards were detailed on-line.

The top awards went to Ben Lindfield from the Rangers Keas 12th grade side, and Fynn Hawes, who played for Rangers Rebels in 15th grade. He was voted the best junior/youth player across all grades from 10th to 17th.

Ben picked up the prestigious Peter Simonsen Cup for the 12th grade player showing the most potential. The trophy was first presented in 1982 after Simonsen was part of the All Whites’ World Cup campaign. Runners up/other nominees were: Israel Reece (Rangers Keas), James Parley (Rangers Jackals) and Cullum Rayner (BV Jets).
